There are no purchases for real money in the app. Gems and streak freezes are in-game only: they can’t be bought, sold or cashed out.
No, you can start learning right away. Without an account, though, your progress lives only on this phone. To keep it and learn on several devices, sign in with email, Google or Apple.
From zero. If you already know some Chinese, take the placement test — it skips what you know. After that the course follows the HSK levels.
With your phone’s built-in speech recognition. Voice recordings are not kept: the audio is processed by Apple or Google under their own terms.
It explains the task, the words and the grammar and answers your question, but leaves putting the translation together to you. It works only if you turn it on and agree to send it your questions. Answers are written by a language model — double-check anything important.
The day’s lantern lights up when you hit your daily goal and review all of today’s words. Lanterns lit in a row are your streak. A freeze saves your streak if you miss a day: the missed day’s lantern turns blue.
The interface is in Russian, English, Spanish, Japanese and Korean.
